This page explains what you can expect from the site, what the information on it is and is not, how your enquiry is handled, and where the binding terms of any actual work come from. Read it plainly. The pages here exist to help you plan, not to commit either of us to anything.

By using the site you accept what follows. If any part of it does not work for you, the answer is simple. Do not rely on the site, and instead contact us so a person can give you a straight answer for your specific shoot.

By browsing, reading or otherwise using this website you agree to these terms. They apply every time you visit, so if we change them, the version in force is the one published here on the day you use the site.

If you do not accept these terms, please do not use the site. That is not a brush-off. It is the honest position, because much of what follows is about the limits of what a web page can tell you, and using the site means accepting those limits.

These terms sit alongside two other documents you should read. The privacy policy explains what happens to any information you send us, and the cookie policy explains what the site stores on your device. Together they describe how the site behaves. None of the three is the agreement under which work is done. That agreement is separate, it is in writing, and it is signed before anything starts.

Nothing here restricts rights you have under the law that applies to you, where those rights cannot be signed away. Where a term below cannot lawfully apply to you, treat it as not applying, and the rest still stands.

This website is published by Hire Fixer in Nepal, a specialist film production support service, or fixer, for international crews working in Nepal. The service is operated by Nepal Film Production Pvt. Ltd., based in Kathmandu. Where these terms say we, us or our, that is who you are dealing with.

A fixer coordinates the practical side of a shoot. We support productions, arrange logistics, handle permit applications, coordinate local crew and services, and fix the problems that come with working in difficult terrain. We do not make other people’s films. The creative work, the editorial decisions and the finished programme are the production’s own. Our role is to make the shoot possible and to tell you the truth about what is and is not achievable.

The site describes that role across a set of guides, service pages and location pages. It is written for producers, directors, documentary teams, broadcasters, commercial productions and photographers who are weighing up a shoot in Nepal and want to understand what it involves before they commit.

The specific commercial particulars of the operating company belong in the written agreement for an engagement rather than on a general web page, and we confirm them directly with anyone we contract with.

The guides, service pages and location pages on this site describe how filming in Nepal is generally structured. They are written to be accurate and useful, they are reviewed, and they draw on real experience of working here. They remain general information rather than advice about your specific production.

They are not, and cannot be, a current statement of regulation. Permit categories, the bodies that administer them, the paperwork they expect, their fees and their timescales all change, sometimes at short notice and sometimes without public notice. Nothing on this site is a fee schedule, and no figure or timeline you read here should be entered into a budget or a schedule as if it were fixed.

Seasons and conditions are described from long observation, not from a forecast. A page that tells you a given month is usually clear in a given region is describing a pattern, not promising the sky on your shoot day. The same holds for road conditions, flight reliability, river levels and the behaviour of wildlife.

Do not commit money to a schedule on the strength of a web page, including this one. Confirm the current position for your dates, your locations and your production type before anything becomes non-refundable. That confirmation is part of what we do, and it is specific to you in a way that published guidance never can be.

Nothing on this site is a guarantee of any of the following, because none of them is within anybody’s control: that a permit will be granted, how long an application will take, what a government office will decide, what the weather will do, whether an aircraft will fly, whether a road will be open, whether a location will grant access, whether a contributor will agree to take part, whether wildlife will appear, or whether a particular person, vehicle or piece of equipment will be available on your dates.

We also give no assurance about safety, health at altitude, medical care or evacuation. The mountains are indifferent to a schedule. Productions must take their own medical advice and arrange their own insurance, and should check that cover extends to the altitudes, the remoteness and the activities on the call sheet. Standard policies often exclude exactly the things a Nepal shoot involves.

None of this is pessimism. It is the difference between a plan built on the real world and one built on hope. We will always give you our honest assessment of what is likely, and we will work hard to make a shoot succeed, but likely is not the same as guaranteed, and we will not pretend otherwise.

If anybody tells you they can guarantee a permit, a summit, a clear sky or a flight, be careful with them. In this country those are not things that can be promised, and a promise like that is a warning sign rather than a reassurance.

You are welcome to read the site, use it to plan, and share it. In return we ask a few reasonable things.

Use the site for lawful purposes only. Do not try to break, overload or interfere with it, probe it for weaknesses, or reach parts of it that are not public. Do not use automated tools to harvest content or contact details in bulk, and do not use anything you find here to send unsolicited messages.

The site relies on services that keep it running and secure, and it records basic technical information in the course of doing so. The cookie policy explains what is stored on your device, and the privacy policy explains how information is handled. If you use the enquiry form, use it in good faith, with information that is yours to send.

We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of the site at any time, including pages, guides and features, without notice. Content is added and revised as the work and the regulations change, so a page you read once may read differently later, and links may move. If you need to rely on a particular point, confirm it with us rather than assuming a page has stayed still.

Sending us a production brief, and getting a reply, does not create a contract. Nothing on this site is an offer capable of being accepted into a binding agreement, and nothing you send through the enquiry form obliges either of us to anything.

The early exchange is a conversation. You tell us what you are planning, we ask questions, and we give you an honest read on whether it works, what it involves and where the risk sits. A first reply is usually a set of questions rather than a quote, because a number produced before anyone has read a treatment is a guess.

If we go on to work together, that work is agreed separately, in writing, and it is that written agreement that binds us, not an email, a phone call or a page on this site. Any figure, timeline or plan discussed before then is indicative and subject to that agreement. Until it is signed, either side is free to walk away, and no obligation to proceed has been created by talking.

This protects you as much as us. It means you can explore an idea, ask a hard question, and even change your mind completely, without having committed to anything simply by asking.

The text, structure and design of this site belong to us. You are welcome to read it, quote it with attribution, and link to it from your own pages, briefs or articles. Republishing it wholesale, copying substantial parts of it, or passing it off as your own is not permitted.

Quoting with attribution means taking a short passage and naming the source, not lifting a whole guide. If you want to reproduce more than a brief extract, ask first. We are usually happy to help where the use is fair and the credit is clear.

Any photograph, logo or third-party material appearing on this site is used with the permission of whoever owns it. That permission is ours, for use on this site, and it does not extend to you. Do not assume an image here is free to reuse.

Footage and stills produced on an engagement are a separate matter entirely. Material shot on a production belongs to that production, unless the written agreement covering the engagement says otherwise. We do not claim rights in your rushes. The ownership of what you make is yours, set out in the agreement, and nothing on this website changes that.

The site is provided as it is and as it is available. We take care to keep it accurate and running, but we do not warrant that it is complete, current, uninterrupted or error free, and given how often the underlying regulations change, some of it will fall out of date between updates.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss that follows from relying on the general information on this site, or from the site being unavailable. In particular, do not rely on a published figure, timeline or seasonal note when committing money to a schedule. The mechanism that protects you there is simple, and it is repeated throughout this site: confirm the current position for your specific shoot with us before anything becomes non-refundable.

Where we do carry out work for you, our responsibilities and any limits on them are set out in the written agreement for that engagement, not on this page. That agreement, and not this website, governs what we are responsible for in the course of the work.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded. Where a limitation here goes further than the law permits, it applies only as far as the law allows, and no further.

Where this site links to a government body, an industry organisation, a map, a weather source or any other external page, that link is there for your convenience. It does not mean we endorse the site, and it does not make us responsible for what that site says or does.

We do not control external sites, and we cannot vouch for their content, their accuracy or their availability. This matters most with official sources, because the bodies that administer filming, protected areas and aviation publish requirements that change, and a page that was correct when we linked to it may have moved or been revised since. Treat what you find there as their statement, current as of your visit, not ours.

The same caution applies in reverse. Others may link to this site, and we have no control over how they describe it or the context they place it in. A link to us from somewhere else is not our endorsement of that source, and it does not extend our terms or our responsibility to whatever surrounds it.

If a link here is broken or points somewhere unexpected, let us know and we will look at it.

We update this site as the work and the regulations change, and these terms change with it. The version that applies is the one published on this page at the time you use the site, so it is worth checking back rather than assuming the terms you read once are the terms in force now.

We will not always announce a change. Minor revisions happen quietly as pages are kept current. Where a change is significant, we aim to make that clear, but the responsibility to check the current version sits with you, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the version then in force.

Changes to these website terms do not alter any written agreement already in place for an engagement. That agreement governs the work it covers on its own terms, and it is not affected by later edits to this page. If the terms of ongoing work ever need to change, that is done through the agreement itself, in writing, not by updating a web page.

The law that governs these website terms, and the place where any dispute about the site would be resolved, is a genuine question here rather than a formality. The service is based in Kathmandu, and many of the people who contact us are abroad, so more than one country’s law can bear on the same conversation.

For the use of this website, these terms are read and applied in good faith, and we would always look to resolve any concern directly and sensibly before it becomes a formal dispute. Where you engage us for work, the governing law and the forum for any dispute about that work are set out in the written agreement for the engagement. That is the right place for them, because they can then be matched to the production, the parties and where the work is actually done.

We have deliberately not fixed a single governing-law jurisdiction on this general page, because the right answer depends on the specific engagement and on advice each side should take for itself. If this matters to you before you engage us, raise it, and it will be dealt with in the agreement rather than left to a web page.

We want this site to be usable by as many people as possible, including those who rely on assistive technology, and those reading in difficult conditions, on a slow connection or on a small screen in the field. We aim for clear structure, readable text, sensible contrast, and content that works without needing the newest device or the fastest link.

Accessibility is an aim we keep working at rather than a fixed state, and we make no formal claim of conformance to any particular standard. Some older pages, embedded maps or third-party elements may not yet meet the mark we set for the rest of the site. We correct these as we find them, and we would rather know about a barrier than leave it in place.

If part of the site is hard to use with the tools you rely on, tell us. Describe the page, the device and the assistive technology you are using, and we will do what we reasonably can to help you reach the information and to fix the barrier for the next person. Getting you the information matters more to us than the route you took to ask for it, so if a page defeats you, reach us through the contact page and we will send you what you need in a form you can actually use.

A few standard points round these terms off. They are dull, and they matter.

If any part of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, that part is treated as removed and the rest continues to apply. One clause failing does not bring down the whole.

If we do not enforce a term on one occasion, that is not a waiver of it. We keep the right to enforce it later, and a delay or a favour on our part changes nothing about the terms themselves.

Nothing on this site, and nothing in the enquiry exchange, creates a partnership, an agency or an employment relationship between us. A fixer supports a production as an independent service, and these terms do not make either side responsible for the other beyond what is written down.

You may not transfer your use of this site, or any dealing arising from it, to someone else without our agreement. We may pass our rights and duties to a successor of the operating business, which does not reduce what you are owed.

These website terms, together with the privacy policy and the cookie policy, are the whole of what governs your use of the site. Any actual work is governed by its own written agreement. Headings on this page are there to help you navigate, and they do not change the meaning of what sits under them.

These terms are written and interpreted in English. Where a translation is offered for convenience and it differs from the English, the English version is the one that applies.
